Matthew J. Stewart, CFP^®

Matthew J. Stewart specializes in helping professionals and business owners build, protect and transfer their wealth by utilizing sound financial planning processes. He began his financial services practice in 1997 as an agent with The MONY Group (Mutual of New York). In 2004 he started The Benefits Design Group, LLC and in March of 2005, he co-founded and is a Partner of Columbus Financial Partners—a partnership of independent financial advisors.

Early on, as Mr. Stewart worked with his clients, he discovered that many of them were not taking advantage of the various benefit plans available to small businesses. Plans that would enable a small business to reduce its tax liabilities and help the owner(s) build personal wealth, while at the same time provide valuable benefits to their employees. Thus, making it easier for a business to recruit and retain the best employees, which would make the business more profitable, in turn, building the owner(s) personal wealth even greater.

Knowing that he could provide his clients with a valuable service, Matthew created alliances with experts in various employee benefits fields. This “team” approach set the stage for the eventual founding of The Benefits Design Group.

Mr. Stewart has obtained his Certified Financial Planner™ certification, the Series 6, 7 & 63 Securities Registrations, as well as a Life, Health & Variable Annuity Insurance License.

Active in his profession and the community, Matthew serves on the Board of Directors of the Central Ohio chapter of The Financial Planning Association and is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. Matt also serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of a non-profit organization based in Columbus, Ohio, whose mission is to help children with Autism achieve skills needed to excel in life.

Matthew lives in Powell, Ohio with his wife, Michele, and their two children, Shea and Hannah. He is an avid practitioner of Tae Kwon Do, a Korean martial art, and has attained the rank of 2nd degree black belt.
